The Best Age for Newborn Photography
Newborn photography can be captured beautifully anytime within your baby’s first three months, with each stage offering something unique.
0–3 weeks is often considered the classic newborn stage. During this time babies are usually very sleepy and naturally curled, allowing us to create those soft, womb-like poses and wrapped portraits that many parents love.
3–6 weeks is a wonderful stage for more relaxed portraits. Babies may be slightly more awake and expressive, allowing us to capture eye contact, stretches and their developing personality.
6–12 weeks brings even more interaction. At this age babies often begin to smile, focus on faces and show more expression, which can create beautifully natural images with parents and siblings.
Every stage of these early months is special in its own way. Whether your baby is sleepy and curled or wide-eyed and curious, newborn sessions are designed to capture the tiny details, connection and love that make these early days so unforgettable.

Wrapped poses are perfect for newborns, especially in the first few weeks. Wrapping keeps babies feeling secure and comfortable while creating beautifully soft and timeless portraits.

Wrapping is also a wonderful option for babies who prefer to stay snug, ensuring we can still capture stunning portraits while keeping your baby comfortable.

Studio Sessions – Rosie Moments Studio
Many families choose to visit the Rosie Moments studio, where everything is prepared ready for your session. The studio provides a calm, warm and cosy environment with a variety of wraps, blankets, backdrops and props available to create beautiful, timeless newborn portraits.
In-Home Lifestyle Sessions
If you would prefer to stay at home during those early days, I can also travel to you. In-home sessions are perfect for capturing natural moments within your own space, creating relaxed images that reflect your family’s everyday love and connection.
Outdoor Sessions
For slightly older babies, we can also arrange a gentle outdoor session in a natural setting. These sessions are weather dependent but can create beautifully soft and light-filled images that feel relaxed and timeless.
