A Lunchtime Wander...

Every now and then, it's nice to step away from my usual photography sessions and simply pick up my camera for the joy of it.

Today's lunch break provided the perfect opportunity to do just that, so I headed over to the beautiful Leaf & Ground in Dursley for a peaceful wander with my camera in hand. It wasn't a planned shoot or a client session—just a chance to slow down, explore, and see what I could find.

It's amazing how much wildlife and beauty exists right on our doorstep when we take the time to look.

As I wandered around, I spotted delicate dragonflies and damselflies darting across the water, each one catching the sunlight in a different way. I was also lucky enough to watch a moorhen and its tiny chick making their way through the reeds—a simple moment, but one that felt incredibly special to witness.

These are the kinds of moments that photography encourages us to notice. In our busy day-to-day lives, it's so easy to rush from one place to the next without taking in what's around us. Having a camera in my hands changes that. It encourages me to slow down, observe, and appreciate the little details that so many people walk straight past.

Whether I'm photographing a wedding, a newborn baby, a family, or the natural world, my approach is always the same: capturing authentic moments and preserving memories that might otherwise go unnoticed.

Spending time outdoors with my camera also reminds me why I fell in love with photography in the first place. It's not always about having the perfect subject or travelling somewhere spectacular. Sometimes, the most rewarding photographs are found just a short walk from home, hidden in the quiet beauty of everyday life.
