What Couples See vs. What Photographers Do

When you look through a wedding gallery, it’s easy to see the finished photographs and assume the magic simply happened.

But behind every beautiful image is a photographer carefully watching the light, finding the perfect angle, adjusting tiny details, and creating a space where couples can simply relax and be themselves.

These behind-the-scenes moments tell a story of their own.

From photographing the groom while he shares a laugh before the ceremony, to finding the perfect position for a dress detail shot, to crouching, climbing, and sometimes getting into the most unusual positions to capture those natural interactions between a newly married couple – every image involves thought, preparation, and a little bit of creativity.

The final portrait may look effortless, but there’s often so much happening just outside the frame. Adjusting a veil, straightening a buttonhole, finding the best light, encouraging a genuine smile, or simply giving a couple a quiet moment together while documenting it naturally.

My goal is always to make the experience feel relaxed and enjoyable. While I’m busy working behind the camera, I want my couples to focus on each other, enjoying their wedding day and creating memories that will last a lifetime.

Because wedding photography isn’t just about taking photographs.

It’s about preserving moments, emotions, and memories in a way that feels authentic to you.

So next time you see a beautiful wedding portrait, remember there’s often a lot more happening behind the scenes than meets the eye!

Thank you to all my wonderful couples for trusting me to capture your stories, and for embracing the process that helps create the images you’ll treasure forever.

Capturing genuine moments, real emotions, and beautiful love stories across Gloucestershire, the Cotswolds, and beyond.
