Summer Family Photography

There’s something so special about photographing families as they grow, and it was such a joy to see Nicola and her lovely family again for an outdoor family photo session at Leaf & Ground.
It honestly feels like only yesterday we were welcoming their newest arrival with a newborn photoshoot. Fast forward just a few months, and it was wonderful to see how much both little ones had changed. These are the moments that make family photography so meaningful—capturing not just a single milestone, but the story of your family as it unfolds.
On a beautiful summer's day, we wandered through the buttercups and long grass, letting the children explore while we captured all those genuine moments that can't be posed. Big brother was full of curiosity, proudly showing off flowers and exploring the lakeside with Mum and Dad, while his little sibling was happy to watch the world from the safety of Mum's arms.
Some of my favourite photographs from the session are the quiet, in-between moments—a gentle kiss from Mum, tiny hands reaching out to a sibling, Dad carrying his little explorer as they looked out across the water, and those fleeting expressions that parents know so well but often don't get to see in photographs.
I always encourage families to relax and simply enjoy spending time together during their session. There’s no pressure to smile at the camera or sit perfectly still. Instead, I focus on capturing the connections between you—the cuddles, the laughter, the little adventures
and the love that makes your family unique.
These are the photographs that will mean the most in years to come. Not because everything was perfect, but because they capture exactly who your family was in that season of life.
If you're looking for relaxed, natural family photography that celebrates your family's story, I'd love to hear from you.
