Zoe’s Adventure at Sharpness Docks

Today, Zoe was in charge of the adventure.

We went somewhere completely new for our walk — Sharpness Docks — and instead of having much of a plan, I pretty much just followed her.

And she explored everything.

Seeing It Through Her Eyes

Old boats became climbing frames. Ropes obviously needed pulling. Willow trees needed investigating. A little music box stopped her completely in her tracks, and anything even slightly unusual immediately deserved a closer look.

I love watching Zoe when she’s like this.

Completely absorbed in whatever she’s discovered, running from one thing to the next and somehow turning somewhere she’s never been before into her own little adventure.

There’s something lovely about seeing a new place through a child’s eyes. Things I might have walked straight past suddenly became the most interesting things in the world.

Just Keeping Up 📸

Of course, I had my camera with me.

But these don’t really feel like photographs I made her pose for. There was no plan and no carefully thought-out shots. They’re simply little moments I caught while trying to keep up with her.

Exploring. Climbing. Investigating. Stopping whenever something caught her attention — and then racing off to discover whatever was next.

Sometimes those are my favourite photographs to take.

No pressure. No posing. Just documenting her exactly as she is in that moment.

Very much Zoe in her element. ❤️
